Lake Keesus Boating Tips

The following rules are ones we hope all boats using Lake Keesus will follow:

  1. Attempt to travel all Keesus Bays in a counter-clockwise direction (driver to shore) especially during high use periods.
  2. Slow-No-Wake speed before 9:00 a.m. and after sundown Monday-Friday.
  3. Slow-No-Wake speed before 9:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
  4. No waterskiing after 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
  5. One life jacket for each person in a watercraft and one throwable if your boat is 16 feet or longer.
  6. PWC's must go slow-no-wake within 200' of shore. PWCs must go slow-no-wake upon entering and leaving Rices and Marquardt's Bays (even if you are in the exact middle of the 2 shores, you are still closer than 200 feet from shore)!

A list of lake boating regulations is available through the Town of Merton. See Chapters 20.08 and 20.09 for Keesus specific rules. Here is another link for boating and safety tips.

Boating License

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1989 is required to complete a boating safety course to legally operate a motorized boat or personal watercraft (PWC) on Wisconsin waters. DNR recreational safety specialists recommend all boat operators complete a safety course. Click here for more information.

Boat Launch

Lake Keesus has a public boat launch with 10 parking slips. The cost to launch your boat is $7.00 per resident or $10.00 per non resident.  The launch is open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM no launching before or after.
